Mission & Code of Conduct

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a comprehensive selection of programs to develop members while pursuing and promoting all levels of competition, whether on a local, regional, national, or international stage.

Genesee Rowing Club Code of Conduct

Members are representatives of Genesee Rowing Club and shall maintain a high standard of conduct, including self control, responsible behavior, and consideration for the safety and well‐being of others.

Members will uphold accepted standards of fair play and will conduct themselves in the spirit of good sportsmanship both on and off the water, including fairness, respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and spectators, and graciousness in winning and losing.

Members will treat others with respect and expect to be treated with respect in return.

Members will refrain from the use of profane, insulting or offensive language in all forms of communication including personal contact and e‐mails.

Members will refrain from making negative comments about teammates, competitors, coaches, officials and spectators.

Members will obey all Club Rules, including Safety Rules and the Code of Conduct or accept penalties that the Board of Directors or Disciplinary Committee deem appropriate.

Members will not engage in or encourage conduct that is detrimental to the club.

Any member may be suspended or removed from the club for cause upon decision by a majority vote of the board. “Cause” shall include:

  • Failure to pay program fees, regatta fees or dues in a timely fashion. 
  • Breaking club rules and protocol. 
  • Engaging in or encouraging behavior detrimental to the club. 
  • Willful disregard of club property/equipment. 
  • Repeated un‐sportsmanlike behavior. 
  • Unfounded malicious or libelous remarks regarding the club or its officers. 
  • Criminal conduct of any kind on club premises. 
  • Abuse of trust in matters relating to club funds.
